What is JoinTrip?
JoinTrip is a Sri Lankan app for shared trips. Local van, car and bus owners publish trips, like Colombo to Ella or a Sri Pada pilgrimage, and travellers book one seat at a time instead of hiring the whole vehicle.
How do I travel from Colombo to Ella, Kandy or Sigiriya without hiring a whole van?
Search the route on JoinTrip, pick a trip that suits your date and book only the seats you need. You share the van with other travellers going the same way, so you pay for your seat, not the whole vehicle.
How much does a seat cost?
Each driver sets the price per seat for their trip, shown before you book. Day trips from Colombo often cost a few thousand rupees a seat, and weekend trips more. Seats beside the driver with the best view cost a little more.
How do I pay?
You pay your driver at pick-up, just before your ticket is scanned. Don't pay in advance. Booking is free, and you can cancel until booking closes.
Are JoinTrip drivers verified?
Yes. Every driver uploads their NIC, driving licence, revenue licence and insurance, and JoinTrip checks them before they can publish trips. Only travellers whose ticket was scanned can review a driver, so ratings come from real seats.
Can I book a pilgrimage, safari or day trip from Colombo?
Yes. JoinTrip has day trips, weekend getaways, Sri Pada (Adam's Peak) and Anuradhapura pilgrimages, Yala safaris, beach trips and regular rides home, all as shared trips you can join alone or with friends.
I own a van. How do I earn with JoinTrip?
Register your vehicle, publish a trip with your route, date and price per seat, and fill your empty seats. Your first 3 trips are free; after that JoinTrip charges a flat Rs. 50 per seat sold, with no commission.
